MISSION

We are a farm & nature immersion program located at the Maine Outdoor Wellness Center, a vast 300-acre plot of land with varying terrain, including agricultural fields, streams, riverbanks, and hillsides. Each week, our “Turtles” will embark on farm adventures and explore aspects of the natural world. We work to incorporate various aspects of sustainability, engineering, and agriculture to create engaging hands-on activities.

Our mission is to create a lasting connection between our youth and the great outdoors!

Our Core Routines

* Morning Check-ins

* Lessons – We do two lessons weekly, one focused on the science of our natural world (biology, ecology, hydrology, etc), and another strengthening our outdoor skills (knot tying, weaving, shelter-building, wood carving, etc.)

* Garden Care – planting, weeding, harvesting

* Animal Care – feeding, watering, fencing, pasture checks

* Species lists – keeping a record of animals we observe on our walks

* Nature Walks!

* Sit Spots – 10-minute silent observation time in nature

* Turtle Huddle – 10-minute check-in to discuss the day, answer lingering questions, and consider adventures for the next session
