SUMMARY:The Turtle Club - An outdoor adventure program
DESCRIPTION:Join us at The Maine Outdoor Wellness Center this summer for an outdoor program for kids of all ages. This is an opportunity to explore the hiking/biking/running trails at the MOWC.  \n\n\n\nThe Turtle club group will be led by Eli Lind\, Ali Dening\, and Jake Dening. The three leaders were friends of Roy Varney\, and Leavitt Area High School Nordic Skiing alum. They will lead kids on guided hikes/bike rides/run through the woods and along the brooks\, fields\, and river at the North Farm. Additional activities within the new building will allow for rainy day activities and for younger kids who can not participate on a higher level.  \n\n\n\nWhen: Every Saturday beginning June 25th and running through August 13th from 9-11 a.m.  \n\n\n\nCost: A suggested donation of $5-$10/student or family would be appreciated and help with trail-building activities while providing a stipend to the program’s leaders.  \n\n\n\nAges: All ages are welcome. However\, we ask that kids under the age of 10 are joined by an adult or older sibling as a guardian.  \n\n\n\nWhere: 69 River Road off of 219 Hammond Road. View directions \n\n\n\nHow: We ask that participants sign up through Eventbrite no later than Friday noon along with the ages of the kids. This will allow us to determine how many extra volunteers will be needed to run the program.  \n\n\n\nAdditional Information: The MOWC has a few adult bikes available to borrow\, however\, if wanting to bike during this program\, and they have their own bike\, please bring it. \n\n\n\nThis program is sponsored by Nezinscot Farm and will provide lite snacks and water for all participants.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram Leaders\n\n\n\nEli Lind – Will be our program leader\, helping out at the MOWC this summer! Eli grew up in Turner\, Maine where he attended Leavitt Area High School. At Leavitt\, he played football\, golf\, baseball\, and nordic skied. He has always loved exercise and is currently majoring in exercise science/pre-physical therapy at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. He also plays baseball at Saint Joseph’s where he is a catcher. He’s looking forward to helping people get outside and moving this summer. \n\n\n\nAli Dening – Is a 16-year-old student at Leavitt Area High School. When she’s not engaged in sports or school\, she enjoys writing. She loves to get outside and play soccer or nordic ski.
